America's most storied canoe maker, building wood-and-canvas canoes in Old Town, Maine since 1898 on designs inspired by Penobscot birchbark craft. By the late 1920s it was the largest canoe manufacturer in the country, ultimately producing more than 200,000 wood-and-canvas boats; its canoes and workshop were featured in an MSL segment.
