American-born chef who co-founded The River Café in Hammersmith, London with Rose Gray in 1987; the Thames-side Italian restaurant won a Michelin star in 1998 and its River Café cookbooks became modern classics. She presented River Café dishes with Gray on MSL in July 1998.
