Maurice Sendak (1928-2012), author-illustrator of 'Where the Wild Things Are' and one of the most celebrated children's-book artists of the 20th century, lived and worked in Ridgefield, Connecticut. He visited Martha's Connecticut television studio in 2000 to discuss his work, the books that shaped him — including 'Mickey Mouse in Pigmy Land' and 'The Prince and the Pauper' — and the importance of reading to children.
