Third-generation San Antonio faux bois (trabajo rústico) artisan, heir to the concrete-sculpture tradition his great-uncle Dionicio Rodríguez brought to Texas around 1924 and passed on to his father Máximo Cortés. Best known for The Grotto (2009) on the San Antonio River Walk, he has also made faux bois furniture for Martha Stewart; MSL visited him for a field-trip segment on his craft.
