Allen C. Haskell (1935–2004), the celebrated New Bedford, Massachusetts nurseryman called "the king of topiary," whose six-acre nursery of rare plants and flawless myrtle and rosemary standards drew patrons from Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis to Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands. A recurring MSL gardening contributor, here demonstrating forced branches; his nursery is preserved today as the Trustees' Allen C. Haskell Public Gardens.
